Canon Printer Setup Guide

Step 1: Unboxing and Initial Setup

Begin by carefully unpacking your Canon printer. Ensure all protective tapes and packaging materials are removed to prevent paper jams or other issues during operation.

• Locate and remove all protective tapes and plastics from the printer's exterior and interior.
• Connect the power cord securely to the printer and then to a wall outlet.
• Press the power button to turn on the printer. Allow it to initialize completely.

Step 2: Installing Ink Cartridges

Proper installation of ink cartridges is crucial for print quality. Handle cartridges by their black plastic parts only.

• Open the ink cartridge access cover. The print head holder will likely move to the center.
• Remove the new cartridges from their packaging and gently pull off the protective tape/film.
• Insert each cartridge into its corresponding slot until it clicks firmly into place.
• Close the ink cartridge access cover. The printer may perform an alignment process.

Step 3: Loading Paper

Load the appropriate paper size into the paper input tray. Ensure the paper is aligned correctly to avoid misfeeds.

• Pull out the paper input tray.
• Adjust the paper width guides to their outermost position.
• Place a stack of plain white paper into the tray, print-side down (or as indicated by your printer).
• Slide the paper width guides inward until they gently touch the edges of the paper stack. Do not bend the paper.
• Push the paper tray back into the printer.

Step 5: Connecting to Wi-Fi (if applicable)

For wireless printers, connecting to your home Wi-Fi network allows printing from multiple devices without cables.

Most Canon printers offer a guided Wi-Fi setup from their control panel. Look for a wireless icon or network settings. Alternatively, the Canon PRINT Inkjet/SELPHY app (Step 4, Option 1) can guide you through the wireless setup process seamlessly.

• On the printer's control panel, navigate to 'Wireless LAN setup' or 'Wi-Fi Setup Wizard'.
• Select your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) from the list.
• Enter your Wi-Fi password (network key) accurately.
• Confirm the connection. The printer's wireless light should turn solid blue when connected.
